This App is to facilitate users in accessing the websites on organ donation in both Hong Kong and the Mainland of China so that their awareness about the significant need for organ donation in these two places will be enhanced. With the function for uploading users’ pictures, voice-recording or video-recording onto the websites to be provided, it is hoped that organ donors, organ recipients, their family members and close friends, celebrities, senior government officials and all those who support organ donation, will be able to share their experience, views and touching stories with others. These are expected to have significant effect in raising people’s participation in organ donation.

This is a project undertaken by Rotary District 3450, one of the Districts of Rotary International, a most historical non-government service organization with Headquarters in Evanston, USA. Rotary District 3450 signed a letter of intent in Dec 2012 with the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office of the then Chinese Ministry of Health, in which the District undertook, inter alia, to develop a model which will help promote organ donation in the Mainland. This App and the websites in Hong Kong and the Mainland to which it will be linked up, represent an important part of the promotion model.
